Academic rules

Students admitted to Bioceb, whether they receive a scholarship or not, must comply with a number of rules throughout their studies, whether these are specific to each university or common to the Bioceb consortium.

Student Agreement

All students admitted to Bioceb must sign a student agreement, countersigned by the programme coordinator and AgroParisTech, before the start of the academic year. This student agreement sets out the students’ rights and obligations. It also details all matters relating to scholarships and the payment of participation costs.

Validation and resits

Information about the attendance of courses, resit possibilities and minimum requirements for validating each semester is available in the Student Agreement.

In particular:

  • ECTS are awarded upon successful completion of a course-unit, in accordance with the local regulations of the host university. Failed courses must be retaken according to the host university’s resit regulations
  • Students shall acquire the mandatory 120 ECTS credits corresponding to the mandatory course-unit of the curriculum.
  • In order to enter the second year of the programme, 60 ECTS of the programme have to be validated at the end of the first year.
  • No optional ECTS can be required, even though some can be offered if the student participates in optional activities. Such optional ECTS shall not compensate for mandatory ECTS.
  • Students shall validate each course-unit (no compensation possible among different course-units) in order to finalise the programme and obtain the master’s degrees.
  • Resits shall be organised as often as possible in the initial exam-taking university. If impossible and/or in order to limit travel costs for the students, the following university may offer the opportunity to organise the resit on its premises according to the previous university’s rules.
  • The Bioceb Board shall evaluate case by case any exceptional situations.

In order to simplify the recognition procedures of the training activities carried out at the partner institutions of the Bioceb Consortium and to enhance transparency and mutual trust in the framework of the EMJM Bioceb, the Bioceb Consortium agrees on the following table of conversion of national grades.
